The President of the World Veterans Federation, Dan-Viggo Bergtun, visited Warsaw on 21 January 2016 at the invitation of Jan Stanisław Ciechanowski, the Head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression. The visit commenced with a ceremonial changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier followed by the laying of commemorative wreaths. Next, at the headquarters of the Union of Veterans of the Republic of Poland and Former Political Prisoners, the President of the WVF met with representatives of Polish veteran organisations which belong to the Federation. They discussed problems and issues affecting the milieu of Polish veterans and combatants.

I hope that as to date, and particularly during the last congress in Sopot, the cooperation of Polish combatant organisations with the World Veterans Federation will continue to blossom and bloom. Especially when a Pole, General Stanisław Woźniak, is the vice-president of this organisation. Time and again our heroes, our veterans testified to the glory of Polish arms and now, in their social activities, they are also highly regarded – Jan Stanisław Ciechanowski, the Head of the Office for War Vetrans and Victims of Oppression, asserted.

In the afternoon, Dan-Viggo Bergtun paid a visit to the office of the President of the Republic of Poland. The following people were among those who participated in this working visit of the President of the World Veterans Federation: Col.
